Statement of Faith
Northside Church of Christ Statement of Faith
At Northside Church of Christ, we believe:
The Bible is the inspired word of God, given to show us the way to have a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ.
The world, including mankind, was created by God and did not “evolve”.
Life begins at conception; abortion is contrary to Biblical beliefs.
God created male and female (Genesis 1:27). There are two genders, and man cannot change what God created.
Marriage is between one man and one woman. (Genesis 2:24)
The 10 Commandments are Gods Law for our society and not merely 10 suggestions.
Sin is real and separates mankind from God, but forgiveness is available to anyone who asks God.
Homosexuality is a sin (Romans 1:26-27) that requires forgiveness from God and a change in lifestyle.
Jesus is part of the trinity, fully God and fully man. He was crucified, placed in a tomb and after three days physically rose from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
Jesus will come again in God's own time to judge the world, and believers will be taken to heaven to live eternally in God's presence.
Doctrinal Statement on Marriage and Sexuality
We believe that God has established marriage as a lifelong, exclusive relationship between one man and one woman and that all intimate sexual activity outside the marriage relationship, whether heterosexual, homosexual or otherwise, is immoral and therefore sin (Gen. 2:24-25; Ex. 20:14, 17, 22:19; Lev18:22-23, 20:13, 15-16; Matt. 19:4-6, 9; Rom. 1:18-31; 1 Cor. 6:9-10, 15-20; 1 Tim. 1:S—11; Jude 7).
We believe that God created the human race male and female and that all conduct with the intent to adopt a gender other than one's birth gender is immoral and therefore sin (Gen. 1:27; Deut. 22:5)
